Online signature reduction

Online signature
reduction.

A smaller footprint before someone travels, testifies, or simply becomes interesting. Assessed and scoped. Not a checklist for amateurs.

What an online signature is

It is the set of traces a capable outsider can already collect. Some of it is obvious: social accounts, news, corporate filings. Some of it is commercial: data brokers, advertising identifiers, location residue. Some of it is technical: what a device and a network emit. Together they are enough to find a person, profile them, or meet them on the road.

What an engagement looks at

  • Data-broker and people-search exposure
  • Social-media and historical-account residue
  • Geolocation and adtech exposure
  • Device and network emissions, at the level of an assessment rather than a field manual
  • The gap between the footprint the principal believes they have and the one that is actually visible

The product is an assessment and a prioritized reduction plan inside the engagement. This page does not list steps, settings, or gear. Publishing a do-it-yourself guide would be the wrong document for the people this work is for, and it would be useful to the wrong reader.

Who it is for

Operators, executives, and business travelers, and the counsel or family office that is responsible for them. The usual moment is before travel abroad. It also fits a principal who is about to become public. It is often paired with a protective assessment when the question is not only the footprint but who might use it.

Pair this with protective intelligence when the question includes a threat, not only a footprint. The legal boundaries are the same as the rest of the practice: lawful activity, scoped with the client, and not legal advice. See the FAQ.

FAQ

Questions counsel ask first.

What signature reduction covers, and what the site will not publish.

What is signature reduction?

Signature reduction lowers the technical and open-source footprint of operators, executives, and business travelers, especially before they go abroad. It spans the OSINT and RF spectrums, from data-broker, social-media, geolocation, and adtech exposure to device and network emissions, so the person is harder to find, profile, and exploit.

Will you publish steps to remove my information?

No. Reduction steps are part of a scoped engagement, not a public guide. The contact form is also the wrong place for an itinerary or a threat.

Can you erase public records?

No. Rook does not promise to delete court records, news, or government filings. The work reduces exposure that can lawfully be reduced and tells the client what will remain visible.

Is this legal?

The practice collects and advises within lawful bounds and obtains technical legal opinions on methods when needed. Whether a specific step is appropriate in your situation is not answered on this website. Your counsel, or a scoping call they direct, is the place for that.
